Medical Camps
Medical Outreach in the Wider Community
One of the biggest challenges for people living in poverty is access to quality public health care. Transport issues and long work hours for little pay are just some of the issues facing the poor living in rural slums. In 2011 we started the year by partnering with the Ministry of Health & Sanitation(Kenya), National AIDS Control Council and Kenya Red Cross to provide essential health care for KCC community through one day Medical Camps. We have successfully hosted camps that cover:
Growth & Monitoring
Immunization
Family Planning
Minor Treatments
VCT (Volunteer counselling and testing) HIV testing and counselling
Public Health Forums and Education
For women, children and the elderly these camps are essential. To date we have been able to assit 700+ patients through our Medical Camps. The response from the community has been positive and so we plan to continue organizing 3 camps per year spaced over a three month cycle.
