Child Sponsorship

When One Benefits, Many Benefit

KCC Child Sponsorship is an affordable and transparent program working to fight poverty in KCC slums.

Our philosophy is that when one child benefits, many children should benefit. When we receive Child Sponsorship funds, the funds are pooled together, so that as well as meeting individual needs of a child, the impact can be felt at a wider level, by supporting the school and other children.

In other words, when you support one child, you are actually supporting many children.

Why Sponsorship Matters.

Sponsoring a child at KCC ECD School is one of the most personal, direct and tangible ways to lift a child out of poverty. These children live in conditions that many can not imagine and struggle daily with hunger. Our main focus is on educating these young children to break the cycle of poverty.

How It Works.

For the cost of 3 coffees a month,  sponsoring a child can provide:

Daily Food. A nutritious meal every week day.

Education. Providing Early Childhood Development classes that are required before enrolling a child into Primary school.

Health Care. Doctor visits and examinations, Maleria treatment, vaccinations, medicines and anything the child may need.

How much does it cost?

Monthly: US$10 or GBP 7
Annually: US$120 or GBP 84

The payment can be made either monthly, half yearly or annually.

In December each year when the child reaches Primary School level to start in January the following year, there is a need from the sponsor to put an extra payment in. These costs are communicated and they go directly into school and exam fees, uniform and other needs. The typical amount for primary school is: US$50, GBP30.

How are the funds managed?

Child Sponsorship funds are pooled together and allocated in line with the current needs. Each child is assessed on a daily basis and if any child is sick or has an immediate need, the funds are utilized for this. Every sponsored child will receive a full commitment in nutrition, education and health.

What are funds are actually spent on?

Food & Nutrition: Food purchases such as cereals, beans, flours, rice, vegetables, salt, sugar and fats, daily liquid multi-vitamins and an allowance for a cook from KCC slums.

Education: Includes exercise books, stationary, school supplies, school and exam fees and allowances for 3 teachers from Naivasha & KCC slums.

Health Care : Includes transport to hospitals, medicines and any related follow through costs as well as health care interventions such as ringworm applications and de-worming.

Sanitation: Includes cleaning products, toilet paper, soap and related purchases for teaching safe sanitation.

Child Sponsorship: School and exam fees, uniforms and any specific needs.
